The role of cities in promoting social entrepreneurship

The social economy and social entrepreneurship are a vital part of the European Union's economy, employing 11 million people and growing. City authorities with their strong focus on inclusive and sustainable ecosystems can play a vital role in creating a healthy environment for the social economy. In this new publication, Eurocities collected a wealth of information, good practices and testimonials from across the EU.

Eurocities is the network of major European cities. Its members are the elected local and municipal governments of major European cities. The network was founded in 1986 by the mayors of six large cities: Barcelona, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Lyon, Milan and Rotterdam. Today, Eurocities brings together the local governments of over 130 of Europe's largest cities and 40 partner cities, representing 130 million citizens across 35 countries.
