Smartening mobility is certainly a key challenge for Europe in the coming decades. The Opticities project wants to kick-start knowledge-sharing between European cities in this field.
Mobility stakes are increasingly important in today’s fast-growing urban centres all over the world, but particulary in the European Union where 75% of inhabitants live in urban areas. Opticities is a European consortium , composed of 6 major cities, service providers, the car industry, research laboratories and European networks (such as lead-partner Eurocities).
Opticities intends to develop and test interoperable Intelligent Transport Solutions (ITS) in Lyon, Torino, Madrid, Gothenburg, Birmingham and Wroclaw, which in turn may serve as templates for the Union at large.
