Opticities brochure
Mobility stakes are increasingly important in today’s fast-growing urban centres all over the world, but particulary in the European Union where 75% of inhabitants live in urban areas. Opticities is a European consortium , composed of 6 major cities, service providers, the car industry, research laboratories and European networks (such as lead-partner Eurocities).
Opticities intends to develop and test interoperable Intelligent Transport Solutions (ITS) in Lyon, Torino, Madrid, Gothenburg, Birmingham and Wroclaw, which in turn may serve as templates for the Union at large. This report compares practices across the pilot locations.
Eurocities is the network of major European cities that brings local governments together to exchange knowledge and shape European policy. Founded in 1986, the network connects cities across Europe and works on the issues that most directly affect urban life. Its activities include policy advocacy, peer learning, research, projects and city-to-city cooperation. Eurocities covers themes such as climate action, mobility, digital transformation, social inclusion, culture, economic development and governance. By connecting city leaders and practitioners with European institutions, the network helps cities share practical solutions and contribute their experience to the development of EU policies.
