The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR/CCRE) is a European association representing local and regional governments. Founded in 1951, it brings together 60 national associations from 41 European countries, representing more than 110,000 local, intermediate and regional governments. CEMR works to strengthen local and regional government and ensure that their perspectives contribute to European and international policy. Its mission is to foster peaceful, inclusive, just and resilient territories and communities, while supporting local leaders in addressing shared challenges and driving sustainable transitions together with the communities they serve.
